The Solomon papers have been taken down, which is annoying.

Yeah, I've found them.
Hey guys i'm sitting the exam, aiming for 300/300 UMS... I'll post daily trivial questions each day to the exam (C3/C4 material (:smile:
Question 1:

Using tan(x)=sin(x)cos(x) tan(x) = \dfrac{sin(x)}{cos(x)}

Evaluate

tan(x+35)=cot(x53);0x180 tan(x+35) = cot(x-53) ; 0 \leq x \leq 180

Are you doing the exam?

Are maths sets at other schools/sixth forms done by ability? At my school we have very mixed sets so we haven't managed to get through a lot of C4 yet

Without using tan(x)=sin(x)cos(x)[br]tan(x) = \dfrac{sin(x)}{cos(x)}[br] :biggrin:

Needed an excuse to practise my LaTeX:

Would they be allowed to ask that I wonder? I don't remember if the appropriate identity is on the spec

note that there are sneaky ways to rewrite sina * sinb and cosa * cosb

edit: ah do you know that but want to do it otherwise? If so sorry lol

Yes you are missing a trick (: plus it says using tan = sin/cos

I found it simple because I knew what to do, but I don't remember ever having to do it at A level. I guess it's about as bad as that similar 2013 C3 one. Did this last year so not worried about being asked it (although I recently had to use the same trick on an analysis assignment :redface:), just curious/like to keep the spec in my memory in case I can help someone with Edexcel

I know and perhaps whilst it may not be on the spec, Edex Maths is getting harder and harder each year to compensate for higher % of A*s.. They are looking for ingenuity aswell. But then again, there is nothing on the spec saying they cant test you on it .... hmm
