Oh well, must go now to the College Ball now and end this lovely conversation. I hope they don't refuse to let me in for looking under 18, they did it last time despite my 'Graduate BCL' card. I have no valid ID other than a Judo Licence confirming my D.O.B. I am going to go mad if they don't let me in at my age. Roll on the mountain of sweets

take pics of the ball, im sure everyone would be curious
I might post one without me on it if I actually get in this time.

Oh come off it Solemn, you buy the Telegraph because you can't get enough of Boris Johnson!
The only reason I read my roommate's copies of GQ is to read the Boris Johnson motoring column. :p:

As for Summer reading, don't bother. It'll be a waste of time. If you have to do stuff, do it in the first week of term, that's what pretty much everyone in my year at UCL did. You'll pick all the stuff up as you go along. Just enjoy yourself. There's not going to much of a respite once you're at uni.

You can't go wrong with The Economist. Yum.

Also, everyone read 'Just Law' by Helena Kennedy.
She's a dirty socialist but it's a really good read.

I have 'Just Law' on my shelf. Have I read it? No. I might over Summer if you say that it's a good read. I just haven't been bothered thus far.

I like The Economist when I get it, but I find there's too much stuff in it, and I get bored before the end.
There you go Polish_Lad, the Victoria Pudding at The Ball.

Well, not exactly the photos that one was expecting, where are the drunk's falling all over the place? The debauchery and nudity that law balls are so famed for are noticeably absent from the picture of 'Victoria sponges' .... :p:
I thought that you might be disappointed.....

It was a college ball anyway not law.

^ Theres no way I'm going to go to Uni without having read up more, I only know English Legal System + Contract and I want to give myself as good a chance as I can. A basic 'grounding' in the new areas I will encounter will probably make the learning of the more difficult concepts easier.

Really? But then wont that extinguish some of the excitement of beginning/finding out about a new topic?
I've done English Legal System + Criminal Law (not looking forward to Crim but excited to see what the other modules are like).

I cant read up on all of SOAS's unique topics but I will read up the basics on stuff like tort and equity because I know sod all about them. My Uni excitement will have to come from the field (or off) :p:

I'm fairly sure that at least 500 of polish_lad's posts have been made in the context of turning perfectly innocent threads into innuendo-ridden smut-fests.

And no doubt I'll now make his signature.

The Independant owns you all. It's like Channel Four news. Simply the best.

I've tried to rationalise this in my mind. And the only conclusion that I can reach is: irony?
