Hi Harry,

The majority of 1st year students will choose to live in university halls and where they choose to live will completely depend on their preferences, such as: where their lectures are based, what their budget is, if they prefer to have a premium ensuite or a standard room with shared bathrooms, etc. There is something to suit everybody's needs and budget.

In returning years, students are very welcome to apply to live in university halls again but many will find a student house in surrounding areas with a group of friends and it is usually cheaper. At this stage, SAS Lettings (Student Accommodation Services) which is a joint venture between Residential Services and Students' Union should be your first port of call for finding student housing in the private sector.

Living in halls is a unique experience as it's usually people's first time living away from home and residents can have a fantastic time if they make the most of the social side of student life, the facilities, the city and the beach.

In terms of what you need to bring, this checklist should be helpful: http://www.swansea.ac.uk/media/Accommodation%20checklist%202015.pdf
