Does anybody know if they offer me one place if I have to accept that place or say no to all residences? Most likely i'll accept whatever I get but is that the only residence from my list I can then have?

Hey there, I posted a thread but no answers yet- do I need to apply for accommodation if Cardiff is my insurance choice? I think it's open only for firm-ers for now but I want to be 100% sure. Thanks!

Yes you still do need to apply

Thank you but I should apply after I find out that I won't study at my firm uni (hopefully this won't be the case haha), right?

Hi, I'm considering Cardiff for uni to study radiotherapy and I'm wondering what's the best accommodation that will be close to the health park as well as one that is social but clean! Thanks
Hey, I'm probably overthinking it but I'm having a really hard time which accommodation I'd like to live in. I was thinking Liberty House because it'll be really close to where lectures will be and I'll likely be surrounded by others who do the same subject as me (biomedical science) which is a plus cos I can ask for help if I need it. However, I'm also worried that it's too far from the rest of the campus, accommodation and city centre so it might be difficult to socialise and go on nights out. I was also thinking the Talybont area cos it's a reasonable distance from both campuses but I've no idea which one of them I'd go for - I know gate is newer but is it that much better than the others. Sorry for rambling on so long but do you have any insight.:smile:

I've been thinking the exact same thing! I want to be close to the hospital so I can easily walk there but I don't want to be so far away from the social scene, nights out etc. Don't know what to do..
Hey, I firmed Cardiff back in January for Philosophy and I've applied for my accommodation and my first choice is Taly Gate, i'm just wondering when we will get our allocations for halls? I'm not in a hurry just wondering

If you don't hold an unconditional offer then it'll be just after results day.

Hi Daisy, where do you think will be most convenient for a medic? Want somewhere social and ideally close to sports facilities. Thanks
Hi, I've just firmed Cardiff to study medicine this September.

I was wondering whether I have to apply for a non-standard residence and what exactly this is?

Also because my lectures will take place in the Heath Park campus, do you recommend me choosing accommodation nearer the town or nearer Heath Park? I want to meet people from a range of different courses and I'm unsure whether it'd be more useful being closer to my lectures or closer to the town?

Thank you,

Megan

What's the difference between Taly Gate and Liberty House? Are there any particular pros and cons?

Hey, ive accepted Cardiff as my firm choice and have applied for accommodation, however im just wondering about the guest policy - are we allowed to have overnight visits? if so, for how long a time?
can they just come in and out as they please or do they need some kind of visitor pass?

There is a policy about it in the contract I think - 2 overnight stays per term or something, Its not a problem, you don't need any pass, you'll just let them in your block. Its not an issue.

No one will check!
I am so lost on what accommodation I should choose. I guess I am a mature student since I'm turning 22 this year, but I'm studying undergrad architecture. Would prefer something social and close to center, but the last time i lived in student halls it meant people knocking on your door, throwing poppers at you and running away and smoking in their bedrooms at 2am setting off the fire alarm. Didn't really like it... Are there any halls that you should look out for? Or any halls that are more for mature students? ^^
Hi I'm firmed at Psychology, but I forgot which accomodation I liked when I went there. Can anyone please help me out and suggest accomodations which are close to Psychology. Thank You, any help would be appreciated.
