Okay thanks , do you have to get signatures from previous employers to prove your work experience ?

Yes you do.

Hey! Yeah I said no to one of them about social sciences or something because my degree is Bioscience too and I had no evidence to say I had any real understanding of it, figured it was better to be honest? And I would hope that one box out of all of them isn't a problem?

Still not heard anything back!

Got sent back my APEL to add more to the social sciences bit :/ I suppose it depends on who it was that looked at your APEL as to whether they accepted it or not. Social science bit is the only one that they said I need to add something for, slightly annoying but oh well.

If I can actually get this stupid thing approved then it will be Kings, I've got Kingston as my insurance but I really want to go to Kings, easier commute, prefer the uni and I have a chance of being placed at the hospital which I already work at. I withdrew from LSBU once I had my Kingston offer, I preferred Kingston because of the links with St George's, thought there would be a greater chance to get some specialist wards on placement which would have been cool

That's so odd! Sorry I feel like I gave you bad advice now! Must be down to different assessors. I tried to make links to social science in other sections very badly so maybe that was it. How long do you get to improve it?

I'm still having a total mare with the LSBU one. Same situation, I've got nothing for the social sciences section but apparently I have to fill in every box and they're being really unhelpful unless I attend a workshop which isn't til June and I sort of wanted it all signed off and done by the time I get my results!

Hiya,
Sorry to barge in i have a conditional offer for graduate entry nursing for this september, and i am also waiting to here back from southbank  . Im a bit worried about evidencing my experience , do you mind outlining the main parts of the APEL process ? Any advice is welcomed .
Hannah

Hiya sorry for the late response. I can see cazcar has already advised you on the Kings one. You also have to provide evidence for LSBU. There is an academic experience section where you write about your first degree and then a clinical skills section where someone must sign for you to say you have experience in each skill. If your first degree isn't a science subject then you also have to complete a science workbook.

LSBU offer a workshop to help you complete the APEL. I haven't done mine yet so I can't offer any more advice I'm afraid but good luck!

If you are starting work as a carer then you should be able to cover most of the boxes. I can't remember many off the top off my head but it's things like "treating people with dignity", "overcoming communication barriers" etc. So all should be covered in the work of a care assistant.

It's important to note that LSBU expect you to have something like 260 hours of experience (equivalent to 6 weeks) and you have to put down where you got those hours on your form. Someone at your work will have to sign off each skill and they must be happy to provide contact details so LSBU can call/email them to verify your experience.

Hope this helps. I hope you get a decision from them soon.

Not to worry at all, it isn't your fault  I assumed the same, must have been down to whoever looked at it. It took me a while today and yesterday to think of ways I could spin my degree and my work experiences etc into something about it but I managed it and sent it back today. They gave me 2 weeks to get it back to them. I think I just got thrown by the way they described it as social and behavioral science and I was solely thinking of psychology and not all the other parts of it that I might be able to link it to. I'm hoping now it should be ok as that was the only bit they asked me to add to and I think I wrote the most in that section now haha. Suppose I'll have to wait and see!
