Will my student accommodation (halls) give me a reference?

I am looking at moving into a rented house with my partner however I have no renting history to provide them with a reference, will one from my part time employer be ok or will are the accommodation likely to be able to provide one?

Did you know them personally? I've never heard of it but it can't hurt to ask if you know someone who knows you.
Otherwise usually an employer is a good bet. They're respected and know you :yes:

Never heard of it but I dont see why not. they could at least confirm you were resident during x period and that you paid your rent on time? the university is bound to have a policy on it. Alternatively your employer would do I'd think. Its really up to the LL who has discretion if its their house.

my landlord wanted a reference from my student halls and from my employer, my halls didn't have a problem with this, it's not like a long employment reference they just need to know you paid your rent on time and didn't destroy the place
