I dont know if I should switch Universities- please help

I am currently a first year Mechanical Engineering student at Queen Mary, University of London. I recently thought about switching universities and I emailed the University of Birmingham, They told me if I achieved a 50% average in my first year I would be able to start 1st year there next year. I now live with family so I pay zero rent and I get free food. However going to Birmingham would mean I need to take a maintenance loan and I will not be receiving my maintenance grant anymore. I really don't mind the 9k going to waste in my first year at Queen Mary.

According to the Guardian League tables Queen Mary is ranked : 46 .
And UoBirmingham is ranked : 6.

Is it really worth switching, I just want to have a job after my degree, how much does the university you went to really matter.
