Re: Postgraduate funding opportunities

Calling all students! Are you thinking of Postgraduate Study? If so you may be aware of some changes to Postgraduate Funding that have recently been announced by the Government, specifically their announcement of Postgraduate Loans for Master’s study (PGLs). From academic year 2016/17, the government will for the first time offer a loan of up to £10,000 per student for Postgraduate Master’s study. The loan is non means-tested and intended as a contribution towards the cost of study. It is paid directly to the student so it is at their discretion as to how this is used towards tuition fees, maintenance costs or other course costs. To be eligible for the Postgraduate Loan you will still need to meet the following criteria:

Be ordinarily resident in England
Meet the relevant residency criteria for student finance
Be under the age of 60
Be studying a Taught Masters (MA, MSc) or Masters by Research (MRes)

The Money Advice & Support Office will be running live online Periscope sessions to answer your questions about the new Postgraduate Loans, including advice on the eligibility criteria and how to apply! You will also be able to ask questions during the sessions, which will be run on the following days:

Tuesday 23rd February at 11am and Friday 25th March at 11am

Periscope is an app which you can download for free! Search for ‘Swansea Uni MASO’ and follow us! Alternatively, you can view online through Twitter @swanseaunimasoIf you have any questions please contact the Money Advice & Support Office on [email protected] or 01792 606699.
