Sorry to bother you, but do you get a choice of cards or are you just given one to do?

You get given two based off three of the topics

That's true although there wasn't anything overly specific like high speed trains aha they were a bit more accessible

Okay, thank you!
Did my oral this morning and it was ok, the cards are ok. Unfortunately, I got the choice of two topics I don't feel comfortable on but overall it went well. Good luck to everyone who hasn't done theirs yet

Had my speaking exam on Thursday, it went pretty well imo! I repeated myself a lot on the debate so I don't think that went too good but the cultural topics went great because I had memorized all I needed.

Usually the real exam is easier than the mock imo. Better to overestimate how hard it will be so you can find it easy.

How are you guys revising for the Unit 3 paper? I haven't been doing any Spanish as I've been focussing on my other subjects more :indiff: The only thing I've really done is the translation from the June 2015 paper and it was horrible
ngl I've not done any spanish revision over half term because I've been focusing on french which is next week (AS) and the week after (A2) and history next friday

But the first two weeks of study leave I just worked through all the past papers and did lots of translation practice.... also watched a couple of films in Spanish or Youtube videos... I find that doing the actual listening from past papers can get really repetitive so I like to practice listening in other ways i.e with films and videos.

Yeah that translation from last year was awful... we did it for a mock in school and we all found it hard :/ hopefully it will be easier this year!

I think once I've got my french outta the way im just gonna blitz spanish for a week, doing more translation, reading online sources and watching videos in spanish to keep my listening up.

Hope this helps!

for the unit 3 writing paper im doing a historical time period- the cuban revolution is anyone by any chance doing that as well????!!
Hi guys,

There aren't many past papers we can practise with, especially for the translation, which seems to be the most difficult part.

The old specification also had translation and here are some sentences from the 2008 paper. It can be good practice.

Despite her fame world-wide mundial and her wealth, Shakira has not forgotten the children of her native country.
After winning many prices with her records, she decided to spend the money helping the less fortunate.
So many people in her country have been affected by the tragedies of war and drugs.
There are those who believe that Shakira's real interest is not in others but in her own success.
If Shakira hadn't used her wealth developing this charity, what would have done all these children desperate?

Thank you! That's really helpful because I was wondering what else to do for translation practice!

Spanish is pretty much the only exam I'm feeling confident about getting an A or A* in! My oral is the 12th of May so I still have a while to revise for it - doing La Casa de Bernarda Alba and Almodovar (Volver and Mujeres al borde de un ataque de nervios). The oral seems to be going well, getting A* in my weekly oral mocks, I think I'm more worried about the translations as I know it is fairly easy to lose marks on that. Anyone else worried about that?

hey... how are you finding the Volver revision and do you have any idea what will come up in the exam relating to Volver? any suggestions
Original post by britmj
We do too! Except we finished Casa really early and started AS revision as our teachers are making us retake (even though I got an A - it's just to boost my chances of getting an A* overall) but we have gone a lot more in depth for Almodovar so I definitely feel more confident on that!

im struggling a bit with Volver and Almodovar so i was wondering if you could please give me any help with that? would really appreciate it:smile:

(my Volver teacher has been on maternity leave so we have absically had to teach ourselves:frown:) thanks
