I'm 22 and I'm FU***
Ok. I left school and been working with my parents restaurants for couple of years and now I have not been working for 1 year because the business went downhill and they can't support me or pay me etc.
So what do I do now? I am really scared, my future is sooo depressing right now because I am thinking in claiming *benefits* WHICH I do not want at all!!!!!! I have no career paths right now. What I have is GCSE's and a BTEC level 3. I want to do an apprenticeship that will garentee me work. BUT I am 22years old? What kind of apprenstships are there for me? YES you can name or you want but I don't see the x job anywhere online to find or apply. I live in Birmingham if that helps. I really appreciate the help. I have depression because of this. I have not been working for 1 year.
Can someone help me? What can I do now? I do not want to go to University. I want work but FULL time or at least 15k year pref 20k year after apprenticeships but ofc I can't find any apprentiships online in Birmingham or know any websites for this

Hi thank you may I ask what kind of apprenticeships that are worth doing and more chance of landing a job after finishing the course. I see there are some course that are 1 year and some are 3-4 years if I could pick I take the 1 year. I would like something to do with IT or engineering. What are the requirements? Do I need to do some test first? If yes are there any online revision that I could do to prepare? Also what about interviews? I really appreciate some help. I am struggling to find apprenticeship for IT or engineering for adults like me or i see is age 16-18. Can soneone help me i dont know what to do

Big companies are those that employ a lot of people, banks, civil service, insurance companies and obviously large engineering companies. your local careers service should have a list of them all.

Ive given you plenty to go on.
1. You are very young and life is not a race. You have time on your side and if you arent going to uni a good apprenticeship can be a really good basis for a career.
2. Your fist task is research finding out who you cna talk to i,e careers services and figuring out what you want to do.

No idea, they may last longer or be more in depth.
1. Dont give up you are young.
2. you will have to learn to help yourself by finding and then engaing with people and sources of information that will help. That requires effort.

Just ring and ask if there's an age limit. You are going to have to get used to talking to people and worrting less what they think as not communicating gets yu nowhere. You need to do a lot of research so you find out whats out there.

I completed college after 3 years. Got CDD.
After leaving, I haven't done much in the way of employment - though have quite a bit of experience, including from working at home. Completed a Lvl 3 Apprenticeship in software and web development. However, I am broke. Haven't got much money. At least in your case, you must have some decent savings, I'd hope?
Did you get an Apprenticeship in the end?
You can also consider taking A Levels and going Uni? Nothing wrong with that. Or you can take certain Apprenticeships and then get into foundation years at University?
Eg. Manchester and Southampton, two good Unis, accept candidates who complete certain Level 3 engineering Apprenticeships onto their Comp Sci foundation course.

You're Birmingham based and haven't found the JLR apprenticeship scheme?
Jaguar Land Rover offers a well structured scheme, that's open to all ages, and allows people to earn a good wage, whilst also training.
Obviously JLR aren't the only provider (BAE, Rolls Royce, Toyota, BMW, Lear... the list goes on)
My advice, is find some companies you want to work for, and look in to what training schemes they offer.

Even though you said you don't want to go to university, it looks a bit like this is the a worry about money / time to study. Have you thought about a new scheme, Degree Apprenticeships? We do these at Aston, based just North in Brum's City Centre.
You can earn whilst you learn (the important bit!), in a good job that is tied to the sector you want to thrive in. You come out of this with a degree, too!
