    Apocalypse Now
    Band of Brothers

-I hope 60's films count as modern or else that list is void. And i know Band of Brothers was made as a tv series but it's too good to be left of this list, and it sure looks like a film. If that didn't count then i'd put Master and Commander in its place

Saving Private Ryan - Amazing, an epic.
To End All Wars - A stunning film, starring Robert Calysle. Intense.
Empire of the Sun - I hope we are counting 80's as modern. This though not directly a combat war film, was direclty linked to the war, and was superb.
The Killing Fields - Another 80's film, another fantastic epic. Don't be put off by the title, it really is a masterpiece.
Red Scorpion - Dolph Lundgren in Arnie mode, comic war film at it's best.

I thought "Band of Brothers" was very good too, and apparently it is faithful to the actual events.

Thank you. You're the first person on this site who (to the extent of my knowledge) has actually seen it. I think it's an amazing film.
