Social Life at LSE? What's it like?

Hey all! So despite all the myths about LSE having a crap social scene, I heard it was pretty solid if you're willing to stick yourself out there.

Any students have any insights as to what a typical LSE student's social life would be like?

Are there any LSE events like departmental teas/lunches, balls, etc?

I know there's not way it would be like Oxbridge with all their fancy formals but yeah
It is what you make of it.

I'd actually say LSE has great opportunities, societies and social events. But that's not the problem, the problem is the workload that you're expected to do, which gives you very little time for a social life (unless you're willing to sacrifice sleep, or are insanely organised and determined).

I found that students who don't socialise - particularly in the first year - tend to be overworking themselves. My friends go out 2/3 times a week, and still get work done on time. Yes its a balance that you have to pick.

There are irregular department/subject drinks, occasional balls run by the SU, and networking events.
