I have about 5 or 6 books now, all second hand from ebay  as I am super busy doing my masters, working full time I emailed BGU to ask for last years reading list, obviously it is subject to change, would you like me to PM you a copy?

Sorry if this is a little unrelated to the thread. How often are you in/how many hours a week are you at UNI a week for your masters? I have a place on one next year and am trying to work out how often i will be in. Thanks.

Afraid I cannot help, I am studying towards my masters with the Open University so I don't go to Uni, it is all in my own time.
thats okay  thanks anyway

Yay  Finally got confirmed that I was fit to teach today. Just waiting for that offer to switch from conditional to unconditional. Major UCAS track stalking now.

I am not sure if my ofer has changed from conditional - I am booked on a document checking day but worried now that there is something else i need to do?

Please could someone email me a copy of the reading list too - be eternally grateful. I have two young children and really want to prepare as much as I can for September.
I did get copies of this years current timetable and if its the same next year, looks like we have the fridays in uni off for self directed study and finish early some Wednesdays.

Don't think there is more than you have to do. I couldn't make the document checking days due to a stupid, irregular working shifts so I booked an appointment to do the document checking. All they done was check everything that was missing from the interview eg. degree certificates etc. (which was nothing), checked my occupational health status which they were still waiting on, and got my ID documents verified etc. and took payment for my DBS check which I finished at home.

DBS arrived at home after a couple of weeks, or one week cannot remember. For some reason my offer was still conditional, so I emailed admissions last night and asked if there was problems with the occupational health, as I have moved doctors since filling in the forms. They replied this morning, saying that I have been approved and that I am fit to teach, and that I had one more condition to meet and that is send them via email the Student Finance entitlement letter stating that they are paying the £9000 student tuition fee. I was expecting for them to update the conditional to unconditional as I know in my mind it is 100% unconditional - I just want that bit of paper to prove it.

As for the reading list, I have last year's copy if you would like it? If possible can I have a copy of this years timetable? I can PM you my email address if that is easier.

Don't know if you have facebook, but I have set up this page https://www.facebook.com/groups/914513168648025/ for new PGCE students if that is any use. I have 0 members yet, as it is relevantly new  but hopefully we will get to know each other.

Think that is all

It sounds like you are very organised. Is the Occupational Health chekc soemthing that they do. I should probbaly log into my ucas account and check where I am at really.

Thanks for the info that has realyl cleared things up a bit. I didnt meet you at the interview in January by any chance did I? Did you have an interview at Nottingham Trent too...might be totally barking up the wrong tree.

Can email the timetable on to you now if you like, just let me know your email address.

Will be joing the facebook group too - often look at the one for this year and find it really helpful!

The occupational health as a form you filled in before you had your interview, if you are not sure about the status just email the admissions office or give them a ring. They can check the status for you.

Nope, I only applied for places in Norfolk (where I live) and they rejected me. But I am glad they did, as once I got to BGU it felt more like a home to me.

Looking forward to meeting you all! I'm just in the process of starting funding applications etc. Argh!!!

I keep reading posts of people saying just how horredous the PGCE year is. I am both very excited and nervous and am trying to not be naive about the workload but am wondering how it can be THAT bad. Even it is seriously hard work ( which i am sure it is) it will only be for ten months? Anyone else worried?
Hi All

I've had a change in the course that I am taking in September. I will now taking a primary maths specialist (PGCE) course so I my placements and timetables will differ in some parts. I can't believe how little time there is till September. When is everyone planning on moving to Lincoln before the course or are people commuting in?

Hi,

I switched to the PGCE primary maths specialist as well! So there will be someone else on the course. Not sure when I am planning to move to Lincoln, I have a place within Crosstrend House and not sure when the moving date is; hopefully the first week of September.
I'm currently looking at private places in Lincoln with a friend I expect I'll go sometime towards the end of August.

It looks horrendously hard work, and I wanted to take a holiday during Christmas - don't think this will be happening :frown:
I know people who have done the course and the workload is massive but try not get too worried it's manageable if your willing to put the work in. I'd recommend not looking too much into those posts as people tend to post when they're struggling more than when they're doing well.
