Obama calls Netanyahu condescending, Erdogan a failure and authoritarian

US president also criticised David Cameron and Nicolas Sarkozy over handling of 2011 intervention in Libya, calling mission 'a mess'

In a revealing interview, US President Barack Obama has expressed his frustrations with some leaders in the Middle East, including the "condescension" of Israel's Benjamin Netanyahu.

Jeffrey Goldberg's six-hour sit-down with Obama was published in The Atlantic and offers some insights into the president's dealings with other world leaders.

Obama, who is reaching the end of his second term, described an incident in which Netanyahu began lecturing him about the dangers of the Middle East.

"Obama felt that Netanyahu was behaving in a condescending fashion, and was also avoiding the subject at hand: peace negotiations," Goldberg writes.

The interview goes on to recount Obama's side of the exchange.

“Bibi, you have to understand something,” he said. “I’m the African-American son of a single mother, and I live here, in this house. I live in the White House. I managed to get elected president of the United States.

"You think I don’t understand what you’re talking about, but I do.”

Nethanyahu is not alone in having incurred Obama's displeasure.

According to Goldberg, Obama sees Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan as a "failure and an authoritarian," despite having been initially optimistic about what he had to offer as a leader.

Well he was right about Libya. We took down gaddafi and promised to help rebuild the country, then as soon as he was dead we buggered off.

It is like he is saying ''I'm leaving office and I don't give a damn no more"

It seems so but if this is his attempt at going out with a bang then it's weak as hell. He could have done so much more to reform America's disastrous foreign policy (and in turn influencing other states to do the same) instead of just talk. His opinion alone at this point means next to nothing.
Obama is doing as much damage as he possibly can to the US's foreign policy before he leaves office in January 2017.

That's true. Its hard to run a country where many people think you're a socialist and stealth jihadist, and thinks your government has been infiltrated by the Muslim brotherhood...

closing down gitmo would be a good legacy though.

Yeah all right.
If he had the wotsits he should have said all these earlier into his tenure, not now that he is leaving.

Reminds me of a certain superpower and almost every war they've been a part of.

I do love it when Obama bitches about other world leaders, is he trying to piss everybody else off and distract Americans from his poor performance while he still has people listening to him?

That would be an excuse if his first two years weren't democrat with a democrat controlled congress, and then 4 with the senate still under democrat control with, I have been told, easy to push around Republicans in the house.

OH PLEASE.
Even black people (the educated ones) are fed up with the damn dude
can't wait till he goes, put 8 years pause on Murika and will leave with nothing done
went up against a bunch of shmucks too
He didn't do sh*t
Do you think Trump will give a sh*t that the Congress will try to cockblock???
If anything it'll give the dude a reason to go off
Trump being Obama's polar opposite and sadly but truthfully kicking ass in this campaign
says a lot about how much people have been counting down Obama's exit
I'm no Trumpeter (trump supporter :colone:)
but down with Obama. He didn't do sh*t and tbh doesn't seem to have tried, just a mouthpiece figurehead. I mean congrats to being black and Prez but that's about it.
