1. this is the qurstion: A rectangle has a length of 2 to the power of t cm and a width of (square root 8 minus square root 2), the area of the rectangle is 64cm to the power of 2, work out the vaule of t
2. 2t multiplied by minus =64cm2

You have now formed an equation and you solve to form t:

2t multiplied by = 64cm2

Divide both sides by root 2

2t =32

Hence t is 5.5

danielwinstanley is correct but I thought I would point out that root(8) = 2*root(2) (and therefore root(8)-root(2)=root(2) ) since once you have realized this, I think the question becomes more obvious in regard to what you need to do.
