Palatinate Ball

What's all this pish then? :p:

To All Students on behalf of Dr Peter Warburton, Director of Sport:

As part of the 175 Celebrations, the Palatinate Ball on Saturday 9 June 2007 celebrates 175 years of Sporting Excellence at Durham University.

The Ball will take place on the Racecourse and will be a spectacular evening of entertainment including sporting celebrities, street theatre with comedians and magicians, based around a theme of water, light and fire, music from the University Big Band, a Last Night of the Proms performance by the University Orchestra, a sixties and seventies band and a disco. The evening will also include a spectacular Firework Display. For information on the Ball and the sporting activities over this special weekend, please visit http://www.teamdurham.com

There remains a few unsold tickets for this event, priced at £95 per person. This includes all entertainment and a four course meal with wine. The dress code is Black Tie with a hint of Palatinate Purple.

If you would like more information regarding this event or would like to purchase tickets, please contact Laura Bilclough. Cheques should be made out to Durham University.

£95? I don't care how good it is, they can take a running jump! I had an awesome time at the college ball last year with 3 course meal, wine, disco, dodgems, casino, giant jenga, live band and fireworks for about £35...from the description, £60 more just isnt justified!

Collingwood ball is £60. I'd rather save the £60, I could probably have an equally good time elsewhere for a third of the price!

£95 isn't too bad, our June Ball is more than that. It sounds like this is for sporty people only though, so I won't be going.

Hild Bede's is £50 including the meal - but quite frankly, with Supergrass playing, I don't really care what else is included.
