Apologies for making a new thread- I am aware that there is a big one with 300 pages long but most of the posts are quite old and I could not find an answer there.

For a student who is continuing education ( doing masters after undergrad) and is applying for tier 4 visa within the UK, how long does the normal application process take after sending off the postal application? Simply put, the time one will get the passport back after sending documents for consideration. If it makes any difference- for a Malaysian citizen ( which is a "low risk" country).
There is this page suggesting to look at visa guide but I am totally lost in there. https://www.gov.uk/visa-processing-times

Does anyone know any official estimates / realistic processing times? Many thanks in advance.

Argh now I found on some universities websites that the process takes up to 8 weeks. Does it usually last that much or that's the upper limit and normally a lot quicker? Does anyone know? If you apply mid July let's say.
