I was wondering if there was a way to spend a few weeks at someones home and then they come and live with you for a few weeks. I think this would be a cheap way to have a holiday and meet new friends. Is there a safe way to do this and any websites you know of to organise this?

    Couchsurfing I guess.

I used it whilst travelling through Europe. Ended up surfing in Helsinki, Ljubljana and Utrecht.

It's a bit hit and miss, since I tried so hard to get couches everywhere but it just didn't happen unfortunately. However the places where I did get couches were the cities I had the most fun in whilst travelling.
