Return and Use of Birth Certificate (Student Finance)

Hi there!

I am applying for student finance as I hope to be attending university next academic year. My passport ran out in March and seeing as I will need an adult one in May (15th) we felt it would be best to wait until I'm 18 before applying for a new one. This meant, however, that I need to use my birth certificate for student finance evidence and for that I have two questions:

1) Which form of birth certificate should I include - short or long form?

2) Will my birth certificate be returned and if so when by approximately?

Appreciate any answers,

AHW

1) short is fine
2) SFE say they take up to 20 working days so don't send them anything you might need within that period - so that's pretty much 4 weeks (plus bank holidays) as a maximum. It could be quicker.
