Do we actually have to memorise all the absorbance wavelengths and their corresponding oberved colours for the visible spectroscopy of transition mental ions questions, or is it on the data sheet?

The syllabus says (Point 10: Predict the colour of a complex from its visible spectrum) so I am learning the coulours of Fe+, 2+, Cu2+, Ni2+, Co2+, Ti3+, Cr3+ and Mn2+ but instead of learning all the wavelengths. In a past question it allowed you to be within 50 units of it, so if you think red has the longest and violet has the shortest wavelength. Then use ROYGBIV and work it out approximately it should be easier. After all, theres less than 20 hours left!!!! Good luck
nah, no way would they tell u to estimate the wavelengths. They'd probably get u to draw a absorption spectrum, but that's it. and yes, u do have to revise most of the transition element colours, but they are quite straightforward really.

Oh, see Q2 june 02, the do ask you to draw the graph but it has no info except that the solution is yellow. So i think u must estimate it
