Hi I'm nearly 30 years old with 3 children. I'm really struggling in deciding what I want to do as a career. For years now I have always wanted to be a midwife but my husband has now been in the army for a year now so we have moved 4 hours from our home town. I'm currently working as a TA at a primary school and have registered with OU on the education studies (primary degree) as this is ideal around childcare and I also have an interest in working with children but I keep going back to wanting to be a midwife but what puts me off is childcare for the placements and my husband saying the education degree would be more ideal and my mum saying I need to concentrate on my children growing up first (they are 6,8 and 10). I have days where I'm all for the education degree and days where I think should I take an Open route with the OU to gain credits for when the time is righty to apply for midwifery. At this moment in time I am having a I wanna be a midwife day.
I've worked in a healthcare environment for 4 years and due to moving have only worked in a education setting for 3 months. It's driving me crazy 😱
Sorry to rant on but it feels good to write all this down.
Hope someone can understand where I am coming from
