I am a nurse considering the masters course to become a PA. Largely because I am frustrated with the state of nursing in the country and my lack of ability to learn and progress despite promises from the hospitals I work in, and the lack of autonomy. My options as far as I can see them are to do the MSc advancing practice and aim for nurse prac, or to do the PA course and head down that route. As an impatient person I lean towards PA because it's shorter! However I have many concerns I hope people on here might be able to help with:
1) Job security as the PA is a fairly new role in the UK and the don't seem employed in all trusts?
2) Lack of potential career progression - is there (or is there likely to become) any of this for PAs??
3) Autonomy - why can't PAs prescribe and thus become fully autonomous???
Anybody got any thoughts/ advice??
From GCSE to A level, it's all changing
