1. Why does the curve never touch the x-axis(excluding the origin)? why does it have an asymptote?

Well the Y axis is the probability of finding a particle at that energy for each value of x. Unless you have 0 particles there's always going to be a possibility of a particle having a ridiculously high energy value compared to the rest of them, though obviously that probability is tiny.
