I have an offer from LSE which I am going to put as my firm I think. However I am torn between Nottingham and Exeter for my insurance. I am planning to study Sociology which already isn't the most recognised degree so I feel like I need to pick Exeter as it is a lot higher in the rankings? However social life is a big factor for me so I feel like Nottingham would perhaps suit - although I haven't really considered it as an option until now. For Exeter I need AA M1 (Pre-U translates M1 as A/B) and Nottingham I need A M2 M2 (M2 is a B) - any tips?

It will always be a compromise, but social life is important! I went to Exeter, and enjoyed it there; there's loads of societies to join and it is very active in this sense. However, if you come from a big city you're probably not going to be too impressed with the nightlife. It's fun, and when you are out you will always recognize people, and sometimes it matters more that you're with good people rather than where you are.

It really depends on what kind of social life you are after! Like I said, Societies are great, and there is so many, plus it being a smaller place means that there is (probably) more of a sense of community than in a big city, the only downside is the small nights out.

Bit of a ramble, but hope that begins to help. If I were you, I'd try and talk to someone at notts about their time there.

I live just outside London and so am used to London nightlife! Apparently Exeter has a lot of night life 'in halls' or something? Would you agree with that?
