Help! My mood goes up and down frequently

How can I learn to not get so excited when I start seeing a little success (e.g solve a tricky problem) and stop putting foot off the gas, but then when things get very hard again, realise I didn't quite see the rest of the huge mountain to climb and panic and stress ensues at the time I wasted being complacent. I know what the problem is- I would just like some tips to stop it in practice which isn't so easy. This is with regards to revision for my maths course at uni.
