Basically, would the EPQ help to strengthen my application for veterinary at all? Has anyone done it and found it really useful when applying or is it a waste of time and could I be watching lectures or reading books to mention in my PS instead?

I didn't do an EPQ and got into vet school (had 4 interviews). It's not essential but does depend on your application as a whole. I had other things to strengthen my application (working on committees outside of school, an engineering project which showed team work, etc). I thought an EPQ wasn't worth the time personally but I'm sure others have found it useful and an excuse to research a relevant area of vet med.

IT doesn't directly influence the vet med but it looks very good on your CV/PS.
