As far as social media goes, what accounts do you need at university?

Facebook is definitely the must have social media account - the most useful for uni students in particular (in terms of organising events and setting up groups for your societies/halls/course etc)

Haven't you ever met that person though who's glued to their pc and has all these internet friends but is reality wise still a loner? I'm not saying people can't strengthen their social skills with a bit of social media but I thought it was normally the other way around: you are already social and just take photos of your social life, and reconsolidate this reputation.
I'm not really sure, to be honest, I haven't really come into contact with anyone like that in years.

you do realise you can get smartphones for like £50 they are not that expensive
Not even that, you can get a first gen iPhone off of eBay for £20.

About your last edited bit and using Snapchat to develop conversations later.
So would you never have anything to talk about without it? That's my point, I'm sure you would,
What point? No one is saying it's mandatory. They're just saying social media makes things easier. I have no idea what you're going on about. I could probably go out and ask for events in public 24/7 to be kept up to date. Or I could just use Facebook.

I could message 70 people asking how their lives are. Or I could just look at snapchat stories and only talk to closer friends.

    How :erm:
I guess you and OP were both talking about how you don't care much for technology :dontknow:. Also, I quoted you originally to provide my argument to your comment.

I think Facebook is most important, for example if you are on a sports team, to be kept up to date with training, team lists or updates to socials! Don't know how I would have coped without it as women's rugby social sec!

I dont think you need a social media account for university like facebook, twitter, but it does help for updates
