Hi, my name is Emmie and I am 40
I start my law degree via the open university in October, however I have a question and I cannot find the answer anywhere.
I am disabled, I have lupus, fibromyalgia and other conditions, but I am a fighter and I will not let my dream of being a barrister be ruined by my disease.
I am on benefits so my courses will be covered for me.
Please don't judge, I was a qualified nurse before I had to quit due to lupus.
There are 2 parts to my question really....
1. Has anyone received the disability grant from the OU? Or whoever pays it and if so how soon before the course started did you receive it?
2. Has anyone also received a student loan from student finance for their OU course and at what point did you receive it?
Also, has anyone got an idea how much the grants or loans are?
I ask because I will need to buy all the equipment I need for my degree and I'm hoping it won't be at the last minute or after the course starts as I like to prep for it.
Thanks to anyone who can help
