Why do people claim that criticism of Islam is racist when

Most of the world's christians aren't even white, they're africans and asians.

Yet no one with a brain claims that criticising christianity is a racist
Because people can't seem to separate anti-whatever from legitimate criticism.
Why do people claim that criticising Islam is islamophobia? Muslims have this obsession with labels

it's not racism in both cases. Islam is a religion not a race do you get it. its called discrimination or islamaphobia etc the same for Christianity

The term has been used and widely, stupidly accepted to simply get rid of our freedom of speech and expression and the attempt to remove the right to tolerate those without beliefs rather than just those with beliefs. People think religion requires some sort of respect and specialism when it does not.

Islam, and all other religions, is a set of ideas at its core. As ideas, they are intellectual property and so are there to be discussed, criticised etc. When people try to criticise religions, especially Islam, they get shouted down for being offensive. Homophobia is a different thing because that is treating people differently for a state of being (homosexual), which is very similar to sexism.
Please try to avoid drawing comparisons between things that have nothing in common.
Islamic privilege via Political Correctness.

Political Correctness is the new racism.

Some very intelligent vies in this thread for a change
Too many people can't understand that the idea of race and nationality are more or less irrelevant in Islam. Apologists will argue that race is no longer about 'race' but about cultural discrimination (here is an example of this argument: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/craig-considine/muslims-are-not-a-race_b_8591660.html). The issue, however, is that there is inconsistency in the definition of the term 'race' between proponents of the idea of 'cultural racism' and traditional 'racism'. Secondly, race as understood in Islam, is very different to 'cultural racism'. Accusing someone of being racist for criticising Islam will only lead to further confusion and frustration.
