Because they have better 'grad prospects' and 'graduating with good honours' by about 2% on the full table, which happens to make LSE be 2 points higher than Imperial.

Last year it was because they had a higher green score, ffs. No one cares about that when they select unis. Every other metric had them lower...

Green score isn't included in the ranking calculation - it's only published in the tables

LSE is worse than Imperial in every single possible measure, yet still manages to rank above it for like the third or fourth year in a row

gg fam

See the table here: http://www.thecompleteuniversityguide.co.uk/league-tables/methodology/

Complete apply a subject mix adjustment to 5 of the metrics (Entry standards, Student Satisfaction, Grad prospects, Student staff ratio and good honours) to adjust for universities not offering the intensive/skewing subjects like medicine/dentistry etc.

http://st.hitcreative.com/education/university_guide/active/UniversityGuide/index/year/2016 <= the most recent tables (published Sept 2015)
http://st.hitcreative.com/education/university_guide/active/UniversityGuide/index/year/2015 <= the year before
http://st.hitcreative.com/education/university_guide/active/UniversityGuide/index/year/2014 <= (and although it looks identical on the main page) the year before that

All 100% not breaking the paywall - they're hosted by the Times contractors.

PRSOM. Looks like my "Milkround" link is the same as your first one.
