Applying for a course you didn't intend to.

How do you write a personal statement for a course you didn't intend to? I originally planned to apply for a drama based course, but now want to apply for animal care, so all my experience is purely drama based. How do I write one for animal care without it sounding like it's a back up course?

Talk about the transferrable skills you've picked up from doing drama and how this will help you on your course or career as an animal carer/assistant. Also make sure to mention any animal related work experience that you plan to do after you've applied or any you have done thus far and what you've taken from it.
