Parents shaming you

Has it happened to you before?

Happily, it never happened to me in childhood.

As a parent, I don't think it works and we have never considered using shaming. It will not inspire greater achievement that lasts - that comes from within - and to discourage negative behavior, empathy and listening work better (with the possible exception of really bad anti-social behaviors).

All the time, seemed to do anything except make me want to distract myself more

Of course. Like when my dad told me to put going to the chip shop on my CV.

My parent's don't necessarily 'shame' me, but do point out if I've done something wrong, even if i disagree. Shaming your kids does nothing for their confidence imo
