Is RE an important subject?
From an academic perspective, Maths and Science tends to be favoured, but RE is very important to develop your views about religion, respect others, and have a wider view of other cultures etc. So yes, it is important in the 'education of life' but perhaps not quite as important in schools.

In my school it's compulsory and worth half your GCSEs. So it's better getting and A* on it.

It definitely has its importance, like wildjones said. If you have no interest in the subject, don't worry, it's one of the easiest GCSEs.
