    Please could someone explain why the current changes direction every 90 degree rotation of the coil? What is it about the set up of an AC generator that is different to a DC generator?

    Also, what is the meaning of negative flux and negative EMF in this context? How can flux be negative when it's just a measure of the number of field lines passing through the coil?
