Should I take out a maintenance loan?

I'm taking out a loan for my tuition fees, but have enough to cover maintenance so wasn't initially going to take out a loan for that. However, the advice online seems to suggest that I should take the loan out anyway, although I don't really understand the logic behind this.

Also, the additional amount I would have to pay back if I did take out a maintenance loan on top of a tuition fee loan according to the student loan calculator is less than the cost of that maintenance loan, but I don't understand why?

    Any answers are appreciated

It's one of the cheapest loans you'll get. Plus, you may find it'll come in handy. Evem if you take it put it in a savings account and use it as a house deposit or something. It's there if you need it.
