Why bother with a post grad? Are they even worth it? Have your say! 26-10-2016

What help is there if you become homeless? Do the council have a duty to find you somewhere?

The council place people via a points system, families with children and the elderly and/or disabled get priority ranking with single people being lower on the list, especially if they consider you to have alternative accommodation options. Speak to an advisor at Shelter for the best advice and go to the council in person (I found this helps things happen faster). They do have emergency accommodation options for some circumstances.

If you have proof of an eviction it will help, they'll want to see the original eviction notice. If it is down to a breakdown of a relationship or abuse in your current accommodation then try get a letter from your GP, social worker and the police (if applicable). Things don't always happen instantly so try line up temporary fixes like friends' sofas asap.

I hope you find a solution quickly.

    Has this happened to you?

    Depends on your age.

If this has happened to you, go to your local shelter, your local council or ask your friends and relatives for help and support.

Perhaps you could get some assistance from job centre which they could assist with these types of queries.

Good luck and hope it all works out for you.
