Unsure which route to take?

Im going back to college this September to redo my maths GCSE, then next year il be doing an Access to Health course as i want to go onto university to study nursing.

I know, uni is a few years away for me but im still unsure which course to take, Adult Nursing, Midwifery, Child Nursing or Mental health nursing, at first i thought of general adult nursing but i would prefer to be trained in a specific area.

How on earth do i choose which path to take?

Any ideas or does anyone have any experiences they wish to share to help me gain an insight of the nursing and midwifery courses.

Your best bet is to gain some experience from each branch or from those that interest you the most.

You say you would prefer to be trained in a specific area, in adult nursing you tend to go on and work in a specific speciality, be that emergency care, general medical, specialised medical, a variety of surgical specialities, critical care, theatres, community, nursing homes and so on. There's also scope (though there's less courses about) to gain dual registration in some roles as an adult trained nurse.

What interests you the most in healthcare and nursing? What sorts of patients could you imagine yourself looking after?

Iv got experience with mental health as i am a career for my mum that has several mental conditions, looking after my mum is hard but made easier as she is family. Also being a mum i do love children.

I would love to be a midwife or a nurse on a childrens ward, iv heard that midwifery is the hardest course to get into tho.
