Can anyone remember what exactly the 12 marker on the Gulf War was?

How far do all these sources provide convincing evidence that the break out of military hostilities in January 1991 was due to Saddam Hussein?

Or something like that

Did anyone do the Gulf War section?

Yeah I did

Right... Thanks... Now, was that question explicitly geared towards whether sources were reliable or not...or whether it was or was not Saddam who was the instigator in the conflict. Some people seemed to be fixed on the "convincing evidence" part o the question, but they can't ask a 12 marker looking solely at provenance and reliability, can they?

I personally analysed every source for whether it supported or rejected the statement (most did both, so I mentioned both). However, for the socialist article and the Bush speech I further analysed provenance and the purpose of the source to explain why they were unreliable.

Both! The point of the twelve marker is to engage with, and evaluate, sources, and (to show the examiner you're doing this) one is obliged to talk about how 'convincing' a source is. Naturally however, there is no point just talking about how sources are convincing, as one also must answer the question; was Saddam Hussein truly to blame? Thus, one needs to acknowledge the question as well as how convincing each source is.

Personally, I approached the question by kind of weighing up both sides of the argument: Was Saddam responsible or not? I did that by counting up how many of the sources supported either side and then argued both sides by drawing examples and evaluating each source. Then I came to my own conclusion based on what I'd read from the sources as well as my personal opinion.

So I think there are different ways to answer the question but I focused more on whether Saddam was responsible or not and how far the sources go to support my conclusion.
What do we think we will get out of 50?

For me:

Minimum: 47/50
Maximum: 50/50
Realistic: 48-49/50
I did, but obviously I'm not an authority on it 😭😭

I did that too. I found it generally a pretty nice paper. Most of the source messages were fairly obvious and there were some good things to talk about with provenance
Well, at least that's History done... (for some of us, good luck to those who didn't do the coursework option)

Any estimates on what the Grade boundaries could be?

Last years were remarkably low, yet I've noticed a lot of people this year thought it was quite hard...
Apparently there was a bit of a backlash against Cambridge for marking harshly in English Language last year so, I'm hoping, they'll be sympathetic when grading history too. Fingers crossed.

I don't mean to suggest you got any less than that (because all of those are amazing marks!) but how on earth can you be certain that your minimum was 47?

(And I also saw earlier you thought your Paper 1 minimum was 57 - how can you know that? It's considered very difficult to get 10/10 for a (c) question.... )

But irregardless, well done  I'm sure you've done amazingly

For me:

Minimum: 44
Maximum: 48
Realistic: 45

?

But I don't really know, it could have been better or a lot worse...

My teacher is an IGCSE examiner and he taught us a perfect structure for every question. I stuck to this ridiculously in the exam for both papers. I used this structure for every mock history exam we have ever done, and I have never got less that 100% in all of them due to the structure!

mine too. we've had the structure drilled into us, so if you know your info and do decent revision, it's not too hard to get full marks, provided a stupid question doesn't come up (lytton committee..)

Ah okay, I guess that makes sense - especially for the sources! Well done anyway

Well done to you too! Might I ask, do you think it would be beneficial if we created an unofficial mark scheme?
I think so. If you need any help putting it together, I'd be happy to share what I put as some of my responses.
based on last year grade boundaries (threshold table) A* was 64% and above or something like that . Is this true or am i not calculating it correctly ?
