Because it's completely false. "Hitler was supporting Zionism" is not a statement of historical fact, but an extremely questionable interpretation of the Haavara agreement. If Livingstone stands by what he says he's standing by legions of historical revisionists, quacks, and genuine anti-Semites. He reaped what he sowed.

Shame he was not expelled! Anti-semitism is disgusting no matter how leftists disguise it calling it anti-Zionism. People have short memories of what happened in the 1930s and in WW2.

Whatever your views on Israel and Palestine, what about the Turkish occupation of Kurdistan and oppression of Kurdish people ? Do these ideological leftists condemn the Turks?
What about the illegal Turkish occupation of Greek North Cyprus?
What about the Papuan occupation of East New Guinea (East Irian)

The fact that its only Israel that gets condemned says a lot about the fact its Jews they don't like.

As for Livingstones remark that Hitler was a Zionist is deeply disrespectful to the 7 million Jews murdered by Hitler.
Had Hitler wanted to create Israel he'd simply have sent all Jews to Palestine to carve out their new state helped by the German army. And not sent the Jews to Aushwitz, Treblinka etc. Hitler had a pathological hatred of Jews and Zions and wanted them wiped off the face off the earth. Livingstone is wrong!
