Guys! Mailed does mean postal! After reading what you guys thought I emailed my teacher and she ensured me that mailed meant postal! It's a relief knowing you didn't waste 20 marks 😅
Guys I need some help/advice/reassurance please. Basically I got a D last year in AS sociology (109 UMS
120 is a C) due to a lot of health problems during the year, this year I've had 4 surgeries and my health problems are still prominent. I resat both family last week and education today, In the family paper last week I answered everything quite well except the family diversity and the functions being lost essay (the last 24 marker) as I forgot everything I wrote a few paragraphs about functionalism and the functions they think the family gives so likes sexual, economic, education and reproductive and then I explained about how them functions won't be fulfilled properly and socialisation won't be done right due to family diversity. I then wrote one paragraph about postmodernism and how they think it's good due to choice and negotiated family. So overall about 2/3 paragraphs. In the education paper today, I did methods first and that went well.and methods in content which went really well I was quite chuffed with that. Then 2&6 on education went fine, then on the 12 I completley forgot everything and I wrote 3 paragraphs about labelling? marketisation and ethnocentric curriculum ,not in that much detail and included about Becker, David and I can't remember the others. The 24 marker, all what I wrote about was girls internal and external achievement, I couldn't write a single word about boys achievement as I forgot the main processes etc. But I wrote a conclusion and intro with some facts in.

With how 'little' I wrote, is it possible in them 2 exams to get that D up to a C or have I completley messed up? I need a C for uni overall and based on UMS I need at least 2 B's in the A2 exams. Is it all too much too late? Is there any chance I can get into university now? I've got exam consideration where I get 4% of my marks extra added (i didn't have this last year) And my exams concessions such as extra time, reader, computer etc.

How the hell did you miss them out?
Ran out of time?
Sad to say but you probably won't get higher than anC and that's hoping your got most of the other questions right
What grade did you get before?
Mailed and postal are literally the exact same thing. Examiners just try to trick you. To my knowledge there's never been a study in the textbook designed for the course that included an emailed questionnaire..
Postal questionnaires I used - Townsend's study of poverty and Shire Hite's study of passion, love and violence.
Cultural factors are attitudes/values, language and diet right? Other wise I ****ed up the class question.
All in all I'm pleased with the repeat paper
Also, do you have to talk about the section "boys in achievement" in the gender question or is it okay to talk about gender internal/external factors and compare them to boys?

thank you! hoping I gained enough marks in the other sections
For the last 20 marker i wrote my whole essay on emailed questionnaires including some points of postal questionnaires. I spoke to my teacher and she said the new spec has emailed/web in it, therefore did i mess that essay up or not? She also said it wouldnt matter if i spoke about postal or emailed as it can mean one or the other, thats because they haven't stated postal or e-mailed.

Im really panicing and stressing ugh, is she saying this because im upset or not??
How many marks do we need on this paper to get an A?
Everyone found it easy so i think grade boundaries would be high:/
The last essay question i seriously messed up due to timing issues for the questionnaire bit i only talked aboyt disadvantages right?

Same
The exam was a mess for me
I've taken it as I will not get an A anymore. Best case I will get a B overall for sociology
2 marker - correspondence principle
When the school mirrors the workforce and creates a hidden curriculum
EG: Teacher has hierarchy like the boss of a firm

6 marker - 3 ways there may be class differences in education ( cant really remember)
Different value for education eg working class have a lower value on education myth of meritocracy
Different language used by students eg working class speak restricted code, middle class speak elaborated code
Cultural capital - middle class may have an advantage as their parents may have gone to university and can help with homework, compared to working class parents who didnt go to university

12 marker - internal ethnic differences
Subcultures, ethnocentric curriculum, different language spoken (elaborated, restricted&black speech), labelling, different values eg chinese have higher than black families) Cant remember the rest...

20 marker - Gender differences
new policies eg science as compulsory created WISE etc, different socialisation at a young age eg boys played football and computer games & girls read books and socialised = higher elaborated code at early age, single-sex schooling, increasing divorce rates - girls more independent & study, role-models, boys muck about in class, feminisation of education, cant remember rest

2 marker in methods: sampling frame - when they pick a smaller subordinate sample than the whole population eg: one chinese student over the whole population, think that was wrong :frown:

4 marker on advantages & disadvantages of longituntal studies
ADV - more represenatable (probably wrong)
Disadv - higher costs

4 marker on sociology being a topic - Depends on what sociologist they are (interpretivist and positivist)
if they are male & female ( so wrong ) you could of said that they have personal experiences

I think thats the answers if im wrong someone could correct me, thats what i said hoping i got a B at least!
oh and everyone rambling on about mailed questionnaires, that screwed with my head, i think its postal too but i did mention email vaguely, i think even if you said email you should still get marks with the same PET...
most of what you've put down i put down on my paper too! i think the only thing you've potentially gotten wrong is the 4 marker on what influences a sociologists topic of research. i put funding bodies, for example educational pressure groups. having said this, i think your answer of being female or male may help as you could take it from the theoretical side as women are more likely to study gender inequality i.e feminists. hopefully you'll get the mark tho!

Oh sweet as! i thought the test was relatively straight forward, an hour before the exam i went through gender and ethnic differences with my friend we were both stoked after.

Did you put the same thing as me for the sampling frame & longitude studies? Those were confusing
