I have applied to study geography and been offered places at bristol and durham but I'm really unsure which I want to go to. Bristol seems like a more lively place with better accommodation but durham is the better uni. I have been put in st cuthbert college and have no clue what its like and I've also heard that the nightlife here is awful.

I study economics at Bristol and I can tell you that the difference between Durham and Bristol is negligible and there are many employers who prefer specific universities. had a talk recently where Firm X targeted Oxbridge, Warwick and Bristol specifically whereas Firm Y went for the London universities primarily. + there are plenty of Oxbridge rejects in Bristol which is indicative of how prestigious it is, myself included (and also some mongs who scraped the grades..)

As for nightlife there are a million things to do in Bristol (although in first year you probs stick to a certain band of like 5-10 clubs near accommodation) only piece of advice I can give is that if you come to Bristol, choose a Stoke Bishop accommodation- it's where the party's at.

Finally, Durham is also a great uni, my best mates there and he's loving it, however he acknowledges that it's much tamer and less of a conventional experience (clubs shut at 2am etc.)

Best of luck with your current a levels! )
