Re: Edexcel Maths Higher Calculator Paper - How was it?I had 6 fractions to add up that gave the probability of 2 exact colours and 1 different one...that added up to 243/343 for me...(Original post by Daniel77)
48/343 + 36/343 + 48/343 + 36/343, or something like thta
Guys for the proportion one, did everyone get T=25x?
Oh and what where the upper bounds and lower bounds that you got?
...Oh and anyone remember that question on average speed? -
Re: Edexcel Maths Higher Calculator Paper - How was it?
yeh people, i put some of these answers you are saying. 33.3333...% for the difference in population, and i put 12cm for the last question. The question I'm kicking myself about a bit, but hopefully will get a mark for, is the solving of the equation: x/2x-3 + 4/x+1 =1 , i solved it for just one solution (gave just 9), because I saw a space for seemingly only one answer. When I think to get the 5 marks I should have put x= 9 or 1. But hopefully I should get 2/3 on that, what do people think? I do think the grade boundary for this paper will be 85+ marks for an A*.

273 was the first answer? -
Re: Edexcel Maths Higher Calculator Paper - How was it?
I got 1 for the algebra equation, but I put down -3/-4 by mistake... I dunno how... I still get 3 or 4 marks for the method right? :P
For the upperbounds one I did whatever.49... if it was .5 then it would of rounded up to the number above... wouldn't it?Last edited by Daisuke; 12-06-2007 at 00:37. -

I got 100.5 as the UB but I can't remember the LB.
The average speed (plane?) was 600km/h (or whatever the units were) wasn't it?
Will I lose marks... I didn't think cancelling down mattered in probability.
