I'm interested in... Masters in Mechanical and Marine Engineering

My study level is... University undergraduate

    Hey Yatur, welcome!

I'm new here also, and interested in Marine Engineering. I'm an international student from Antigua trying to make up my mind which Uni to firm. Got offers from LJMU, Plymouth and Newcastle.

Any advice for a fellow aspiring Marine Engineer?

    Hi Akin

Let the shipping companies in Antigua sponsor you, you will need a shipping company sooner or later to give you required sea-time in order to achieve your Marine engineer's License. Therefore the first step should be contacting shipping companies and have an arrangement with them to give you the required sea-time.

Getting a degree in marine engineering will still leave in the same position and you will have to look for companies once you graduate, i'd say it's best to do the difficult bit now.

I have graduated from LJMU and in my experience it's a good university for this course, but if i were you i'd visit each place and see myself what it's like. Living wise Liverpool and Newcastle are cheaper and both are big cities, but plymouth is located near the countryside and has a peaceful atmosphere for studying.

It's a difficult decision but see if you can attend their open days, it will help you better to make a decision.

    Good Luck and Best Regards
