I'm Alessandro, an Italian singer/songwriter and producer. I've got offers from Middlesex University (Popular Music), Westminster University (Commercial music performance), BIMM (songwriting), ICMP (songwriting).
I went to the open days. The courses seem similar and I'm really uncertain on my choice...
Middlesex and Westminster are really big and wonderful places and the atmosphere is fantastic. They have great facilities for musicians and the environment seems more "academic". BIMM and ICMP are smaller and have less facilities. I've heard that there aren't enough rehearsal rooms compared to the number of students. I saw the ICMP rehearsal rooms and I don't know how four musicians can play inside it... really small! At first sight they don't seem proper and good universities (I don't know why, it's just a feeling). On the other hand BIMM and ICMP seem to be more connected with the music industry. BIMM in particular have links with some of the most important labels in the world and some famous alumni... and it seems to offer more opportunities to play outside the uni, also at international festival.
Is there any current student from one of those unis who can help me?
I'm in that moment when you are radically changing your life and you don't want to make a mistake on your first step...
Anxiety for this choice is eating my mind...
