1. For the following Question some help please ?

For the reaction S + O2 = SO2
1)what mass of SO2 is formed by reacting 64.2g of S with O2 ?

This is my workings ...

mass of S = 64.2/32(atomic mass)
= 2 moles

because the reaction is 1 mole of S = 1 mole of SO2 we have 2moles of SO2
therefore ....

mass of SO2 = 2 moles x RMM (32+16+16)
= 2 x 64 = 128g

but the correct answer is 96.2g, can anyone please point me in the correct direction as to how 96.2g is the answer and not 128 ??

kind regards ..

Sunny
2. Where is the 'correct' answer from, a textbook?
3. M= moles x Mr
1 x 32 +64.2 = 96.2
