1. So for Q11, can someone help me see what I've done wrong? My working may be difficult to follow, so I divided it into 3 stages; equating energies, vertical suvat, and then horizontal suvat. I also know that I need to add on 3sin30 at the end as this is the horizontal displacement of the pendulum when it is released (but I realised that just after taking the photo!)

Stage 1 looks fine.

Stage 2.

u is not zero.

The velocity you worked out in stage one will be at an angle of 30 degrees to the horizontal, and consequently has a vertical component.

Stage 3 also has a problem for similar reasons.
6. Sorry for not replying sooner, I only just got round to giving it a second attempt. Thank you for identifying my oversight; I re-worked it and got the correct answer
