I am gonna cry, there's no question in that. Probably gonna have a sip of some bleach too.

@Mathemagicien, I presume your insurance is straight Maths for Warwick?

My insurance is Maths with Physics. Are you also joint Maths and Physics, or just straight Physics?

Just straight Physics  My Maths is okay but my Further Maths leaves something to be desired!

Y not cambz?

That won't work will it? If they reject me with A*AA on results day it's really unlikely they'll give me an offer. I could try a completely different course but I don't want to

I can change up all my uni options (but apply for imperial again lol) and try Oxford biochem (standard offer A*AA). I know how Oxbridge interviews are like so I guess I could be fairly comfortable in another. I might have a chance

I presume so too. Certainly all my choices for maths were as pure as I could choose them to be, since I hate non-pure maths.

You won't believe this*, but despite my height, I am actually a year ahead, so I would also probably reapply to Cambridge if I missed my offer this year, since I've got less to lose from doing that

*Sometimes I don't either... before posting this I checked it was true for the 9999th time! :dunce:

Because I mis-spelled Warwick and felt ashamed.

And its to see who notices

Tfw you don't wanna to your insurance so much you don't learn to spell it's name properly

I see everything
I thought I was so stressed about results day but then I went in the metaphorical queue for Harry Potter and the Cursed Child tickets the other day and never felt more nervous in my life

Haha, yeah you told me before. So are you currently in Year 12 or Year 13 (as in before summer break started)? You are also really tall lol, you are a giant just like @physicsmaths.

Btw, since you've seen me irl, do I look 16 to you?

Missed offers tend not to get offers again (excluding Maths where the success rate is relatively low). Especially in Natural Sciences where the average number of A*s a successful applicant has is 3, they would find somebody much better suited - on paper - in the pool (some who have met the standard offer, but not the specific offer at their respective college).

I think the Christ's AT has said somewhere that the chances of a re-applicant getting an offer in the next cycle after missing their offer is quite slim.
Original post by Insight314
Haha, I guess that would be cool.

I gotta make sure I study as hard as I can though since, as you probably know, I am planning on becoming a theoretical physicist in the future so if I am not good enough I am doomed for life.

You can still become a famous and successful theoretical physicist even if you get off to a bad start and go to a lesser uni to begin with. I mean look at Stephen Hawking...

Good to know - thanks!

Fake ID's won't work, but the last point about pictures is disputable. If you look old enough, you generally get served in pubs without ID.

What if I don't look old enough? I have no idea if I look 16 tbh (@Mathemagicien tagging you again fam), I guess with facial hair I may look older but I usually shave.

Original post by Protoxylic
But don't be that guy who studies in freshers, besides, freshers is only like a couple days in Cambridge so enjoy it whilst you can.

Why not? :frown:

Are the recreational activities mandatory or something? What did you mean by that?

I legit laughed out loud.

I understand what you mean, but I feel like that is very unlikely. Also, I doubt you can get into Part III, PhD and then post-doctorate without being at the top of your class.

Edit: Did you read my other reply to @PhysicsIP2016, where I tagged you? I was going to ask those questions if the unfortunate were to happen, but since I was on the topic of failing results day, might as well ask them now.

If you don't look old enough then you won't get served, simple as that.

I mean, I suggest you do what you want to do obviously, but at the end of the day it's only 2-3 days and it's a good chance to get out there and start making friends. I think you would be much worse off if you locked yourself in your room, I wouldn't do that to yourself. Although you can probably find people who do want to do that as well, just try not to do it by yourself, you may end up going insane or not feeling too good, which is not the right thing you want to do in the first term.

Some may be mandatory, I know all the safety things and welfare are mandatory and they take register. These are just during the day, or at least they were at Caius last year.

You can do Part III with a First. Top-of-your-class is not needed. Cambridge earns a very healthy income from postgrads so they don't make it *that* exclusive. The MAST Physics offer rate is 33%.

Ah, my apologies. Year 13, since I was home-educated before year 12 and just joined school for A-levels.

Sorry, imo you look a little younger tbh, but I am really bad at estimating ages...

But you'd easily look over 16 if you got ripped, shaved your head, and grew a beard, fam,

Oh, I see. You don't look Year 12, although I don't think there is that much of a difference between how Year 12 and 13 look.

So I should aim to look like a skinhead by October? I gotta order Mein Kampf first.

Consequently, Cambridge is also boring. Since these questions are more common for Cambridge interviews!
