The Student Room Group

s1 binomial

a company which produces crystal goblets knows from experience that 17% of goblets have cosmetic flaws and so must be classified as seconds.

of those goblets classified as seconds, 80% can be sold at half price.
1) determine the probability that, among 40 randomly selected goblets classified as seconds, fewer than 30 can be sold at half price.

2)a random sample of 1000 goblets is chosen from all those produced. Specify completely the distribution of the number of goblets in the sample that can be sold at halfprice.

please show all working,thanks x
