Hii guys, how did you find the exam?

I found that translation was good - easy accessible topic area- university/university fees, i'd assume this is what most people are looking to go to anyway, so in this aspect, the translation was nice for me

Discursive essay was a bit tricky. Not really topic areas i'd go through (i mean come on, benefits, and tourism?? - that's surely what 18 year olds spend talking about nowadays to people. ._.). i did the media one as i found it the easiest.

Literature question was a massive wtf moment with first glance. Did anyone else do Das Leben der Anderen??

What kind of things did you write for the media essay?

I did Das Leben der Anderen and I definitely had a wtf moment when I first saw the film question!! I had just never thought of the film in that way, with a character and his goals? Hopefully it was okay...

And the discursives annoyed me as none of them were real topics that we'd covered in class, ended up going with tourismus which was alright in the end, I think.

As for the translation, I always find translations difficult as was the case here, I just didn't know some of the specific phrases such as 'is it worth it' and some of the smaller words I struggled with too.

After the initial shock of some weird questions though, I think overall it was alright!

What did you do for the essay for DLDA in the end?? It literally threw me off and I couldn't decide which character to go for, I went for Wiesler in the end

Hopefully everything turned out OK!! Good luck for results day!

Intro: how there are different forms of media, nachrichten, werbungen, fernsehen etc. This lets me talk about other things (well I hope I get marks for this. ._.)

For censorship
Paragraph 1: gewalttätig Spiele,I gave an example of a case where kids got badly influenced by violent games and blah blah. Then I related back to question with a if we had censorship this wouldn't of happened...

Paragraph 2: influence of media on terrorists and once again related back to question, gave an example.

Against censorship
Paragraph 3: we have freedom of speech and how censorship would hinder this

Paragraph 4: I can't remember ._.'' Something like bringing countries together because we know of wars in Syria etc, if we had censorship then we wouldn't know this was happening, losing on an opportunity to support other countries. Honestly blabbled on for this, couldn't think of anything else 😓

Conclusion: we shouldn't have censorship, elaborated

It threw me off too! I also went for Wiesler and said that his goal was to be an active member of the Stasi and stuff and to protect socialism etc and I said that at the beginning he succeeds in this goal as he carries out his work effectively when he interrogates the guy and stuff..but then i said that his later goal was more specific in that he has to spy on dreyman and expose/document his subversive behaviour but he fails in this as he becomes a better person and begins to sympathise with him and blah blah...i know it's stretching it a bit with the goals as the goals I spoke about were pretty much the same but I tried to do something with the tricky question.
what did you do?

And thank you, you too!

for me the translation wasn't great as I had complete mental blocks for most of the words :frown: and I really didn't like the literature question either haha
