FP2 maths question

I don't understand part b in this question at all, usually in the method of differences questions there's only 2 columns of fractions to deal with, in this one there's 3, I'm not sure what is cancelling with what.

Ahhh I see it now, what about the 1/6 though? I'm assuming since it isn't including in the following working out that it also cancels?

Yes, it cancels with the diagonals that you've hidden in the "..." section.
